WORKING WITH POSTNATAL MOTHERS

Supporting women through the changes, challenges and opportunities of early motherhood.

Working with Postnatal Women

Pregnancy is a time of extraordinary change in a woman's life physically, emotionally and spiritually. After childbirth, a mother’s body begins the intricate process of recovery, healing, and adapting to the demands of caring for her newborn.

Every postnatal experience is unique, with its own rhythm, pace, and story. It is a time of embracing the NEW, sometimes the UNEXPECTED, as mothers adjust to their transformed lives and bodies. It is also a time of growing TRUST in the body’s ability to heal, recover, and adapt to the profound changes that come with early motherhood.

It is a true privilege to accompany a client on this unique and very personal journey.

Yet we are increasingly surrounded by more and more fear and misinformation around pregnancy, labour and birth. Many practitioners tell me they are wary, nervous and unsure about working with pregnant people.

I have been working supporting women and their families during pregnancy, birth and into parenthood for over 30 years.

  • Better understand the physiology underpinning pregnancy, labour and birth. As a continuum and in all it’s intelligence and complexity.

  • De-bunk and un-pick  myths, misconceptions and misinformation that surrounds pregnancy. Supported by evidence based sources and knowledge.

  • Explore Functional Integration® and Awareness Through Movement® lessons with both mother and baby in mind.

  • Focus in on situations and symptoms to be aware and respectful of.

  • Ensure best practice when working with postnatal clients. In Functional Integration and Awareness Through Movement sessions®.

  • Discover how working with pregnant and postnatal clients enriches and develops your skill-set as a practitioner.
